Water-to-water heat pumps can also be referred to as ground source heat pumps or geothermal heat pumps, however you call them – they do the same thing. These type of heat pumps remove heat from the outdoor energy supply source (the ground) via a collector system (a well or ground loop) and move it into your home or commercial building.
In homes, these heat pumps usually distribute the heat through in-floor radiant heat. In commercial buildings, the heat is also distributed through in-floor heat or fan coils. There may also be a secondary use for the hot water such as heating a swimming pool.
